At most XR protests you can hear drumming from bands all over the country who have practised the same rhythms. The XR Birmingham Band is called Brum Beats.
The drums draw attention to and accompany an action, deescalate a situation, disrupt an event, or energise an occupation. If you’ve experienced the sound, you will understand.
We always welcome new members—you don’t need any experience or equipment to join. We’ll teach you the tunes and lend you an instrument. We practise on Saturday mornings, usually 11:00-13:00 We are most often in Cannon Hill Park at the bandstand but also regularly travel to other local parks
