Each XR group generally organises and acts in its local area, therefore our focus is normally Birmingham and the Midlands. However, twice a year thousands of rebels come together in London to put our voices together. We go to London because it’s where the power is: government buildings, and headquarters of banks, corporations and media companies.

The Big One – April 2023

The most recent large national rebellion was ‘The Big One’ where XR joined with over 200 organisations for four days of protest, actions, workshops, peoples’ assembles, and speeches in the areas surrounding parliament.

We brought tens of thousands of people to stand up and be counted, with estimates ranging from 60,000 to 90,000 at any one time, and well over 100,000 individuals across the four days.

XR Birmingham rebels were in strong attendance. In addition to all the rebels who made their own way they, we packed four journeys on 72-seater coaches on the Friday and Saturday, all subsidised to help everyone attend.
